Prompt: Write a poem that’s also a fairy tale.
Once upon a time…there was the perfect shoe
Once upon a time
Cinderella wished for the perfect pair of shoes.
Now, Cindy hated shoe shopping. She rarely found a style she liked in her size.
One day a door to door shoe salesman came knocking.
“Why not?” she thought as she tried on the first one the salesman slipped on her foot.
She walked around her kitchen, admiring the shoe’s design and fit.
“I love it!” she cried. “Let me try on the pair.”
“Oh my dear,” he said. “That’s not how we do things at Prince’s Shoes. We will have them handmade especially for you. Just pay now, and they will be at your door in three days.”
Cindy thought that was odd, but, damn, she loved this shoe.
“Sold!”
Exactly three days went by when a box appeared on Cinderella’s porch with the following stamped on the top: Prince’s Shoes - A Shoe for Everyone in the Kingdom.
She wore those shoes everywhere. They were comfortable, cute, and even charming.
Sometimes all a princess needs is a damn good pair of shoes.
