Day 20
A Short Wednesday Ramble
Day 20 of my 40 day writing challenge. As Bon Jovi once sang, “Whoa, we're half way there, Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer.” What to write, what to write. After perusing several books this morning, I cannot settle on any prompt. All of them require major cranial muscles. My brain is tired, despite a decent night’s sleep, and now I have Jon Bon Jovi’s face in my head, which isn’t a bad thing. Oh, Jon. Anyway, I digress. The words “living’ on a prayer” keep playing on repeat. Aren’t we all just living on a prayer? What is prayer? Does it have to be to a deity? Or can it just be energy sent to the universe? Prayer should be a personal endeavor, not something forced or trite, like prayer hand emojis. When someone says, “We need more prayer in school,” I often reply, “There’s always been prayer in school. One student may silently say, ‘Please don’t let the teacher call on me,’ while another whispers, “Make Travis ask me to prom.’ You just don’t want me leading a prayer. Goodness, no.” Prayers are missives, directed at who or what we believe. We want a new bike, a boyfriend, a safe trip, or world peace. No one has to know what is in your prayers. I sure don’t want to know what messages you’re directing to your god, and I will not be sharing mine. Oh, except for that world peace thing. Praying for peace is critical these days.
And now back to Bon Jovi…

The older Jon does a lot more for me than the long-haired 80s Jon. Just saying….
And if you’d like to help with that world peace thing, here are a few links to legitimate organizations helping with that. I plan on donating to one today.
